Parent Involvement and Support

Our Parents are encouraged to develop a strong working relationship with teachers.
While offering to volunteer at school is welcomed, these simple at home steps provide a great system of support.
  1.  Make sure children discuss what they learned during the day as it allows them to learn to summarize.
  2. Help with organization by setting aside specific time to study, complete homework, play, and get quality sleep.
  3. Model reading for pleasure and set technology limits.
All Community Members have the right to review the instructional materials used in district classrooms.  If you have an interest in reviewing any instructional materials, please contact the building Principal to schedule at time for review.

Adult Literacy Assistance

The Brunner Literacy Center is an adult literacy support resource nestled right here in the City of Trotwood.  Located at 4825 Salem Avenue, across from Maria-Joseph Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, the Center believes literacy is a basic human right and that every person they serve deserves to be treated with privacy and dignity.  Staff at the Center provides free one-on-one tutoring in reading and math, assistance to parents who have school-age children in need of help with homework and/or other life skills, book discussion groups, remedial instruction to help pass college entrance tests, and a host of other services.  Open Monday – Thursday, those interested in the Brunner Literacy Center’s services should schedule an appointment by calling (937) 567-9600.
