Principal's Message

Dear Trotwood-Madison Students, Parents/Guardians:

I hope this message finds you refreshed, rejuvenated and ready for a new year.  We are anxiously awaiting the return of students for the 2023-2024 school year.  Our dedicated staff is excited about providing an array of engaging and challenging learning experiences to all students that  puts them all in a confident position to be agents of positive change in our world.  Trotwood-Madison High School is a learning community that is committed to helping all students grow their confidence as learners and people.  Our staff understand the crucial role that failure and mistakes play in the ongoing process of improvements.

As educators, we strive to model the truth.  We will do our utmost to celebrate successes, while helping students through the opposite with empathy and support.  I recently heard someone say that, “All learning is social/emotional.”  No one can learn at their highest levels if they do not feel safe, secure, and respected.  We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our students are learning at high levels because they are respected, challenged, supported, and cared for.  That is our commitment to our students and families.

Resilience, the ability to rebound from a setback, is a focus area for the entire school district and unlike drawing, writing, playing the guitar, or singing, resilience is a skill that can be developed.  Resilience or grit is a competency that we believe is fundamental to one’s success.  It is an area that students will hear more about throughout the building.  We have a moral obligation to our young people to help them prepare for a world that is increasingly more competitive, global, and complex.  We look forward to partnering with our families as we engage in that process.

Yours in Education,

Michael J. McCray
Principal, Trotwood-Madison High School
