Trotwood has the Division I All Area Coach of the Year and Player of the Year

Congratulations to Head boys basketball Coach Rocky Rockhold on being named the Division I ALL AREA COACH OF THE YEAR and to Dazhonetae Bennett on being named the Division I PLAYER OF THE YEAR.

Dazhonetae finishes as the all time leading scorer in Trotwood-Madison history, surpassing Andre Hutson.   He will also finish in the top three in school history in rebounding and in the top two in blocked shots.  We are still researching rebounds and blocked shots so he may very well be the leader in those categories as well.

Kendric Mallory was a second team all area selection and in girls basketball Aysha Ingram was a third team selection.

4/10/14 Trotwood Spring Sports are Off to a Good Start

Once again, our boys tennis team is off to a great start.  Coach Joe Haupt and the Volleying Rams are 3-1 after tonight's win over Miamisburg.   Other wins were against Dixie and Xenia.  Our lone loss was against unbeaten Beavercreek, currently on the regions top teams.

The start of all of our spring sports seasons have been crazy with the weather with many cancellations and reschedulings which is still ongoing.  I will work to resend updated schedules early next week.  The Rams are at Miami Valley Monday afternoon and then host Sidney at 4pm on Tuesday.  Grab a lawn chair and root for your Rams.

Our boys and girls varsity track teams will be at Troy tomorrow evening.  Baseball and Softball will both hopefully be at home Monday weather permitting and if our field conditions improve.

Go Rams!

Trotwood Student Named ALL Ohio Division I Basketball

Congratulations to DAZHONETAE BENNETT!  He has been named ALL OHIO in Division I basketball!  He joins past recipients Chris Wright, Andre Hutson and Tiffanie Guthrie (2X) as ALL OHIO selections from Trotwood-Madison in Basketball.

Trotwood Madison tallies 130 in sectional win

Top-seeded Trotwood Madison defeated Stebbins 130-68 in a Division I sectional tournament game at Centerville on Tuesday. It is the third straight game that the Rams (21-2) have eclipsed the century mark.

According to OHSAA records, the last time an area team put up 130 points was 1993 when Colonel White beat Sidney. In 1988, Botkins put up 131 points over Mendon, and Tri-Village scored 132 against Dayton Christian during the 1980-81 season.

11/20/13 - Fall Sports Awards

Greetings from Athletics!  Below is a link to the Dayton Daily News.  The Southwest District All Star fooball teams have been announced.  Trotwood is well represented!

11/20/13 - Fall Sports Awards

Last night we held the fall sports awards ceremony (minus football).   I wanted to briefly share a few hilights from the evening.

*We had 11 of our student-athletes recognized by the GWOC for their play in tennis, volleyball and boys and girls soccer.  In that number, first team GWOC North divisional honors went to Maya Murray and Lamane Seck in soccer.  Even more impressive, both received GWOC Scholar-Athlete honors because both were also listed as Honor Roll students for the first nine weeks!

*Out of the 42 students who lettered in the fall sports (minus football) 23 were on the Honor Roll for the first nine weeks!

*Also we had our first four inductees in the Trotwood-Madison Sportsmanship Commando Club.  Those student-athletes exhibiting high levels of sportsmanship on a consistent basis on and off the field can be recognized.  Our coaches spend time each week discussing the varying aspects of sportsmanship as part of their practice planning.  This helps our student-athletes understand what is expected.  Those inductees into the Sportsmanship commando Club last night:  Amaya Ahmad, Henry "Hank" Grinner, Chrissy Jewett, Arlesha Cospy.

We have student-athletes who are getting it right and it's a tribute to our teaching and coaching staffs and administrative teams.   Thanks for all that you do.

8/30/13 - Volleyball

Good morning!  It's been an exciting first two weeks for our athletic teams.   Congratulations to our varsity girls volleyball team with an exciting win over visiting Xenia last night!  The atmosphere was so much fun. From what I gather, and please correct me if I'm wrong, it is the first time in school history our volleyball team has won a GWOC game!  Currently the team, under the direction of first year head coach Chaunta Bennett, is 3-3.  What a great start for the Lady Rams.

8/27/13 - Tennis, Volleyball, and Soccer News

Our girls tennis team won last night is now 1-4 on the season.

Girls volleyball is 2-2 after thumping Meeadowdale last night.   Northmont comes in today for a visit.  Gametime is 5:30 for JV and the varsity follows around 7pm.

Boys soccer is on the road at Northmont this evening, 7pm.  Coach Grinner and the guys are soooo much fun to watch and are this close (Fogle holds his fingers a smidge apart) to getting that first win of the season.

Girls soccer is at home tonight at 7pm (Middletown Christian) and tomorrow night 7pm (Northmont).  They are getting better each outing.

Tickets for Friday nights varsity football opener are on sale in the HS Main Office.  $10 gets you our game vs Springfield at 6pm and then the Thurgood-Northmont game afterward.   A reminder the game is at Welcome Stadium.  We receive proceeds from each ticket sold.

Support Your Rams!

4/19/13 - Wrestling and Basketball News

Congratulations to the boys varsity tennis team!  Last night the team defeated Greenville, a perennial top ten in the region, by a final of 3 to 2.  It's the first time we've beaten the Green Wave in Boys tennis in over ten years!  We are 3-3 overall and in the thick of things in the GWOC North Division.   The team will host Troy on April 23.  Congratulations Coach Haupt!

3/4/13 - Wrestling and Basketball News

Congratulations to our two state qualifers, Anthony Grayson and Adrien Henderson who completed competition at OHSAA wrestling tournament February 28-March 2.  Grayson finished eighth in the state in his weight class.  Adrien finished the tournament with 1 win and 2 losses. Anthony finished the tournament with 2 wins and 3 losses and an 8th place in the 182lbs class. He is Trotwood-Madison first placer since 1999 when Vincent Gay was crowned champion. Adrien's 42 wins sets a new single season win record. Anthony's 41 wins puts him in second place for single season wins.

Trotwood-Madison should be proud of both of these young men's accomplishments.  Kudos to Coach Lenard Jackson and his staff and team for representing Trotwood-Madison at such a high level.

Our boys basketball team continues its' march to Columbus.  The runnin' Rams downed Graham Saturday afternoon.  Next is the District Finals.  Trotwood-Madison (22-3) will face Hughes (20-5) at UD Arena Friday at 5:30pm.  I will have specific ticket information for you tomorrow but plan on those tickets going on sale Wednesday in the main office at the High School.

We still have Trotwood-Madison gear for sale including red shirts and hoodies.  Please see Mrs. Ellis.

We will see you Friday night!  Go Rams!

2/27/13 - Basketball News

Good morning.  The boys basketball team defeated Northwestern last night and will now move to the third round.   The Runnin' Rams will face Graham (12-10) Friday night at 6:30pm at Springfield High School.

If all goes well the Rams will play for the District title on March 8 at UD Arena against either Aiken or Hughes.

We will sell tickets for this Friday's game tonight during parent-teacher conferences at the high school and tomorrow in the main office of the high school during normal school hours.

Support our Rams and attend a game.  Friday should be a good one to catch.

2/25/13 - Wrestling and Basketball News

Wow!  What a weekend for Trotwood-Madison wrestling.

Trotwood-Madison has qualified 2 wrestlers for the OHSAA State Tournament. Anthony Grayson and Adrien Henderson will compete starting Thursday February 28-March 2-3 at Value City Arena. Details are on the OHSAA website. This is the first time in school history we have had multiple state qualifiers.  Adrien broke the school single season wins record (41).  Finals are on Saturday.

The Runnin' Rams boys basketball team won it's first round tournament game by beating Ben Logan over the weekend.  Tomorrow night is round two at Springfield High School.  The Rams will face Northwestern at 8pm.  Tickets will be on sale in the main office of the high school tomorrow from 7:30 am until 3pm.  Go Rams!

2/20/13 - Basketball News

Good morning.   We will begin selling tickets Thursday and Friday for Saturday's 12:30 boys basketball tournament game in Springfield against Ben Logan.  Tickets are $6 for both students and adults.  We will sell them in the main office of the high school.

Congratulations to Jamar Hammonds who reached the career 1,000 point club this past weekend in the regular season finale at Butler.  He now has 1,008 points.  In addition that that he has been named the GWOC Player of the Year in the GWOC North Division.  Dezhonatae Bennett is first team, Chris Mack and Ravon Lovett received second team North honors.   Head Coach Rocky Rockhold has been named the North's Coach of the Year.

Also, Jamar Hammonds was named a District -15 All Star and the District 15 Underclass All Star is Dezhonatae Bennett

Aysah Ingram received first team GWOC North honors in girls basketball.   The girsl lost to Valley View in first round tournament action.  Kyra Williams receievd second team honors and Chrissy Jewitt was named special mention.

In wrestling, Adrien Henderson and Anthony Grayson both finished third in sectional wrestling and move on to the districts later this week in Goshen.  Michael Sanford placed as an alternate for the Rams as well.  Good luck to these three and Coach Jackson as they are one step closer to reaching State!

2/12/13 - Basketball News

A brief update on the latest poll for Ohio Division II boys basketball.  We are currently 8th in the state.  Division II by the way is loaded with local flavor.  Thurgood is #1, Dunbar and Alter are tied for 6th, we are 8th and Franklin is 9th.

Also, regardless of what happens tonight at Fairmont or Friday at Butler, our Runnin' Rams have locked up the GWOC North title!

2/11/13 - Wrestling, Bowling, and Basketball News

Our wrestlers begin Sectionals this weekend at Milton Union High School.  Good luck to Coach Jackson and the team.

On Sunday, In bowling Krysta Coleman placed 4th on the all-tournament team with a 3 game series of 611, and finished the season as a member of the 2nd team all North GWOC team!

The girls basketball team heads into the tournament matchup Thursday against Valley View in Springboro on a two game winning streak.  The Lady Rams are 9-13 and are at full strength for the first time in months.

Congratulations to Rocky Rockhold and the boys basketball team as the Rams earned top seed honors in Springfield.  We were a unanimous selection which is actually remarkable as the entire field in that bracket is out of the same conference and it's not the GWOC.    The first tournament game is Saturday, February 23 at 12:30pm at Springfield High School against Ben Logan.  Once I receive ticket information I will forward to you.

After stumbling at Alter last Tuesday our Rams whalloped Piqua and then in one of our biggest wins of the season, we downed Lakota West, a large division I school who came into the game with only 6 losses.  The Rams now head to Fairmont Tuesday night and then to Butler Friday for the season regualr season finale.  We are now 17-3 and with the new state rankings coming out tomorrow we should be around 8th in the state.

2/4/13 - Girl's Basketball

I wanted to provide an update on our girls basketball team.   The tournament draw was held this past weekend.  We will face Valley View on February 14 at 7:30 down in Springboro.  If there is a better date night with your sweetie than taking in a girls tournament basketball game, well, I certainly don't know of one.

Valley View beat us a few weeks ago but we had two starters out injured.  Not this time around.  It should be quite a suprise when they meet us and we are in full force.

The Lady Rams have two home games this week as they host Piqua Wednesday night (6pm for jv and 7:30pm for Varsity) and then on Saturday, Butler comes calling with the Jv slated to tip at 12:30 and the varsity at 2pm.

1/31/2012 - National Signing Day

National signing day is February 6th and Trotwood-Madison is proud to have an unprecented five Division I college football signees this year. At 9am we will honor these student-athletes with a signing ceremony for their parents in our LGI room.  Reon Dawon (Michigan), Michael McCray (Michigan), Jerrold Clements (Illinois), Cameron Burrows (Ohio State), and Cody Collins (Marshall) will be part of the ceremony that day.

Also, at 1pm the young men will then be part of a Greater Western Ohio Conference Division I football signing ceremony at the Huber Heights Athletic Foundation Center in Huber Heights.

1/30/2012 - Girls Varsity Basketball

Good morning, All!  A quick update in girls varsity basketball.  Greenville was tied for the GWOC North lead with Troy.  Not anymore.  Greenville came in last night and our Lady Rams rocked 'em 39-25!  Our Rams are 7-12 overall and face the Troy Trojans in Troy this weekend.

Also, a reminder about this Saturday's makeup Boys basketball game.  Our boys will host Greenville (weather permitting) Saturday with the 9th graders starting at 5pm, the JV at 6:30 and the varsity then at 8pm.  Again, it's a home game, our final home game this season for the boys so come out and see the state's 8th ranked team.  (PS, we will have limited presale tickets for Tuesday night's game with 4th ranked Alter in Kettering....more on that later!)

1/28/13 - Congratulations to our Swimmin' Rams!

Our swimmin' Rams girls medley relay team qualified at Saturday's GWOC Swim meet to participate in the Sunday championship meet which was a first in the history of our 6 year swim team career. First as a girls medley relay team and first to qualify.

They placed 13th overall with a time of 2:32.68. Their seeded time was 2:32.28- their personal best. The medley consist of the backstroke, breast stroke, butterfly, and freestyle.

The Swimmin' lady rams are Sierra Salyer 11th, Shiloh Foley 10th, Titianya Mallory 9th, and Mikala Burnam 10th.  Congratulations to coach Sharyn Jackson!
